Quality Glass recently completed a renovation project in an Omaha home and it’s so beautiful, we had to share!
The project included a full custom bathroom with a 60” x 96” shower enclosure. The glass is 3/8” clear tempered with flat polish on all edges. The panel and door both extend to the ceiling, and the glass panel is supported with a u-channel on the top, bottom and one side. The door has two vertical sweeps, and the hardware consists of (3) square profile hinges and (1) square 8” back to back door pull in brushed nickel.
We also created and installed back painted spandrel glass to the back and right side of the bathroom walls above the vanity. The glass extends to the ceiling and there are three cut-outs in the glass for the outlets and the backlit mirror mount. The outlets are covered with back painted cover plates that match, and the mirror is ¼” Clear mirror with flat polished edges.
In addition to the bathroom, Quality Glass also collaborated on a bar area in the space. In the small bar area, we installed back painted spandrel glass to the back and right side of the wall. There are three cut-outs in the glass for outlets, which are covered with back painted cover plates that match.
Back Painted Spandrel Glass was installed to the back and extends to the ceiling in the large bar area. Side returns were installed to the left and right of the back wall, and the glass was divided into four sections for the back wall. The glass has a cut-out for a TV mount and three outlet cutouts, which are also covered with back painted cover plates that match.
We used ¼” clear tempered glass with polished edges for the back painted glass. A ceramic enamel was fired onto a glass substrate to form a permanent bond. The enamel is different than silicone or organic paints in that the binder is actually the glass. When the paint is cured – the bond is so strong it cannot be removed, and the ceramic enamels are as hard as the glass itself. The finish will not scratch, mar, fade, stain or discolor, and they are non-toxic and non-combustible. Because of the durability and beauty, back painted glass is the perfect choice for a kitchen or bar area.
The paint color for the space is Dovetail SW7018 from Sherwin Williams. All Sherwin Williams colors can be matched to customize your project.
This project showcases how glass can be used to create a beautiful and unique space that reflects your individual style. The custom glass designers at Quality Glass will work with you to create a glass feature that is perfect for your space!
