Quality Glass & Mirror specializes in the production of Insulated Glass Units. In 2016, we installed a Lisec Automated Insulated Glass Line, allowing us to produce four times more products. Implementing the Quanex T-spacer boosts the units performance ratings, and the units are produced vertically, allowing them to be handled immediately without compromising the quality.
Two lites of glass are insulated using Quanex Triple Seal Warm Edge T-Spacer. Silicone based with 3A molecular-sieve desiccant pre-fill; 47% minimum by weight. Contains high-performance acrylic adhesive for its structural seal and is backed with a proprietary multi-layer moisture vapor seal. HB Fuller PIB969 is applied as the primary seal, and HB Fuller HL5153B is applied as the secondary seal.

Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that holds together when shattered. In the event of breaking, it is held in place by an inter layer, typically of polyvinyl butyral (PVB), between its two or more layers of glass. The interlayer keeps the layers of glass bonded even when broken, and its high strength prevents the glass from breaking up into large sharp pieces. This produces a characteristic "spider web" cracking pattern when the impact is not enough to completely pierce the glass.
Laminated glass is normally used when there is a possibility of human impact or where the glass could fall if shattered. Skylight glazing and automobile windshields typically use laminated glass. In geographical areas requiring hurricane-resistant construction, laminated glass is often used in exterior storefronts, curtainwalls and windows. The PVB interlayer also gives the glass a much higher sound insulation rating, due to the damping effect, and also blocks 99% of transmitted UV light.
Multiple laminates and thicker glass increases the strength. Bulletproof glass is often made of several layers of float glass, toughened glass and Perspex panels, and can be as thick as 100 mm. A similar glass is often used in airliners on the front windows, often three sheets of 6 mm toughened glass with thick PVB between them.
In order to assure our customers the highest quality, we have our own in-house tempering ovens. Have you ever wondered why one cake is better than another even though the recipe was the same? The same holds true for tempered glass.
Glass tempering is an art, starting with the best quality annealed glass expertly prepared for the oven. We utilize a "state of the art" Tamglass 84 X 144 furnace where the process is computer controlled for the heating and cooling of the glass to achieve a distortion free and flat finished product.
Heat Strengthened glass is twice as strong as annealed and fully tempered glass is four times as strong as annealed. Tempered glass is sometimes referred to as safety glass because when broken it will shatter into small pieces that are less likely to cause serious injury.
Plexi Glass: A tough, resilient plastic noted for its transparency in clear form and for its outdoor durability. It is produced in colorless transparent sheets, transparent and translucent colored sheets, and sheets with patterned surfaces in a wide variety of thicknesses and sizes. The most common application of Plexiglass is window glazing, motor vehicle glazing, safety guards, product displays, lighting applications, and general architectural use.
Heavy Glass: 3/8, 1/2 or 3/4 glass is used for table tops, furniture, store fronts, shower doors, shelves, or railings. 3/8 and 1/2 glass is available in clear, bronze or gray.
Pyrex Glass: Pyrex borosilicate can be used in airtight stoves or fireplace screens. Seamed edges and loose installation add to its durability.
Pyroceram Glass: Pyroceram is a fine quality, light amber colored glass ceramic designed for wood stove service.
Spandrel glass is for use in non-vision applications to mask unsightly framing and raw construction members so they are not visible from the exterior. Normally used for areas between floors and above the ceiling lines.
Quality Glass offers high quality fired on ceramic fit Spandrel Glass produced, in-house, utilizing new state of the art equipment. You can view our standard color pallet here: Sprandrel Glass Brochure. You can view information about our custom colors here: Painted Glass.
